More Than Fishing — It’s About People, Purpose & Connection

At WLSTA, our lines reach further than the water. Every event, every partnership, and every donation is tied to one mission: building a stronger Twin Ports community.

Supporting Veterans

Our veterans have given so much—now it’s our turn to give back. Through Vets on the Lake, we provide a day of fishing, food, and fellowship for more than 120 veterans each year, with over 50 boat captains donating their time. Funds raised directly support veteran needs in the Twin Ports, with a focus on food, shelter, and scholarships.

Helping Local Children

WLSTA proudly supports teaching kids ice fishing!
Every year the WLSTA takes kids out ice fishing the Lake Superior Ice Festival!

Protecting Our Fisheries

We believe in the future of fishing. That’s why WLSTA is dedicated to advocating for better fishing opportunities and preserving the pristine waters of Western Lake Superior. Our focus includes stabilizing populations of Lake Trout, Walleye, Salmon, and other freshwater species, ensuring future generations of anglers can enjoy these waters as we do today.

Who We Are

WLSTA is a community of anglers, families, veterans, and supporters working together with one shared purpose: to serve others and protect what matters most. From our signature events to ongoing partnerships, we strive to be the voice of Western Lake Superior—standing up for our waters, our veterans, and our neighbors.
